Source System Definition

This field carries an indicator identifying participating providers. This status code is used in calculation of workload and CPT reporting.

A participating provider is a provider who signs an agreement with Medicare accepting assignment for services. A participating provider agrees to accept the Medicare payment on a claim as payment in full, and will not charge the beneficiary for any amounts over the Medicare allowed charge.
